Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is embarking on the next Canada in a Changing Climate: National Assessment Process of how and why Canada’s climate is changing; the impacts of these changes on our communities, environment and economy; and how we are adapting. As part of this process, NRCan is forming an Advisory Committee to provide advice and guidance throughout the process.

The Advisory Committee will play a crucial role in shaping the assessment process, providing input on various aspects, including:

  • Assessment approaches and goals
  • Report format, structure and content
  • Supplementary and targeted products
  • Author involvement
  • The review process
  • Communications and engagement

Selection Process:

  • Expressions of interest will be assessed by the NRCan Assessment Secretariat.
  • We will consider familiarity with our Assessment reports and products, as well as expertise in climate change adaptation, engagement, and science communications.
  • The committee will aim to be representative of different sectors, regions, and academic disciplines across Canada, encompassing a broad spectrum of Canadian diversity, including youth, Indigenous peoples, visible minorities, 2SLGBTQQIA+, and persons with disabilities.

 Time Commitment:

  • The committee activities will commence in fall 2024 and continue throughout the assessment process (approximately 5 years).
  • Meetings will generally be held virtually, with one in-person meeting per year. Those who require support to travel to meetings will be covered by Natural Resources Canada as per Treasury Board guidelines.
