Message from the Chapter Chair

Welcome to Renfrew County Chapter!

The chapter executive is made up of members who volunteer a few hours of their time in sharing their interest, enthusiasm, and expertise in building, directing, and maintaining a strong association and local chapter. Fresh ideas are always needed to maintain the demands of an active chapter. Feel free to contact us with your thoughts and ideas at:

Updates from the Chapter Chair

The Renfrew county chapter completed and submitted financial grant forms to OACETT as required and are in the midst of planning our Annual Chapter meeting. (ACM for Late March 2024 stay tuned for booking notices.  We hope this year we can avoid the weather that causes us to have to pivot last minute to a zoom ACM. Sr Leadership at OACETT will attend.

The chapter is progressing well to our cornerstone annual partnership renewed in 2023 the Renfrew County Science fair. We have once again offered Chapter members as judges and an award as well as financial sponsorship for this event that occurs early April this year. See Pictures of our judges 2023. We will post winners and student pictures from 2024 event later this year.

The Chapter in Partnership With Pleora Technologies will be offering a CPD event centered around AI and visual inspection optical camera/software systems developed by Pleora Technologies kanata Ontario in Late February. Stay tuned for that event as a zoom offerring.

We are in the planning phases of a technical Industry tour at Haley Magellan Aerospace Foundry hopefully around the May time frame as a spring tour at this exciting facility that has been delivering high technology light alloy castings for Military, Aerospace and commercial applications since the 1930's. This tour will also include a WIT event and lunch at Whitewater Breweries Cobden Ontario afterwards. We can only facilitate 15-20 at this tour and notices will go out to the chapter shortly.

The chapter is also working on an OPG Hydro Facility tour at one of the Ottawa ST Lawrence Plant groups (Dams) More details to follow.

Our chapter will start to assist our sister chapter Ottawa with College Liaison efforts as the local Algonquin Campus in Pembroke does not have any technical programs recognized by OACETT. Algonquin Ottawa Campus is very close to Renfrew and we will offer assistance to the Ottawa Chapter in this regard.
