About the Speaker

Dale Phippen, C.E.T., is Chair of the Great River Network, a self-organized environmentally conscious community group created to incite change, with the capacity to respond to environmental concerns that fall outside of agency-led initiatives, and with an ability to respond to current issues. The recent interests of the Network’s partners have been documenting St. Lawrence River flows, the influence of commercial shipping vessel waves on nearshore sediments and fish diversity, and (in 2024-2025) the installation of nature-based shoreline erosion protection systems in the upper St. Lawrence River.

Mr. Phippen joined OACETT in the mid-80's, and was fortunate to be one of the inaugural members of the Cornwall Chapter when it organized in 1989. At that time all chapter communications were via Canada Post, or the Ontario Technologist!

As a volunteer for OACETT, Dale served twice as Chapter Chair, and fulfilled other multi-year terms as Vice-chair, Past-Chair, Secretary, College Liaison Representative, and Chapter Executive Member. He was elected twice as the Professional Affairs and Services (PASB, now MESC) Councillor for Eastern Region, which included contributions to the Fellow OACETT Nominating Committee.
