OACETT Executives Talk Continuing Professional Development in New Video
OACETT invites you to watch a video message from President Stephen Morley, C.E.T. and Vice-President of IETO Greg Miller, C.E.T. on the relevance of continuing professional development (CPD) and the rationale behind OACETT’s desire to make CPD mandatory.
In the video Morley and Miller talk candidly about the importance of remaining competent throughout our working lives, the benefits of CPD, who the program applies to and the components of the OACETT program. The recommended CPD has been designed to be flexible with many options to reach compliance. Three activities plus one formal course or self-study option would be required in each three-year cycle.
In this information-packed video, OACETT leaders also highlight the importance of aligning technology professionals with the majority of professions in Ontario and investing in yourself no matter where you are in your career.
In September, OACETT Council will vote on whether to make CPD mandatory. If approved, members will be required to participate in ongoing professional development to uphold membership with OACETT, beginning January 2016.
You are encouraged to share your views on the proposed policy by joining the discussion on OACETT’s official LinkedIn Group, contacting your council members, emailing us at cpd@oacett.org or by watching the Livestream broadcast of the CPD session and sending in your questions for the guest panel on May 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during OACETT’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference at JW Marriott, Muskoka.
In fact, live streaming will be available at our AGM and Conference from May 29 through to May 30. More details will follow later this month and will be posted on our website.
