OACETT appoints a new Director of IETO and Registrar
OACETT is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Chappell to the position of Director of IETO and Registrar, effective January 2, 2015. Barbara has served the Association for nearly 11 years, seven of those in the capacity of Deputy Registrar, during which her considered and collaborative approach to the management of certification and admissions operations has enabled her to accomplish a great deal.
More recently, she took on the role of Executive Director of Technology Accreditation Canada. "Barbara’s extraordinary dedication, invaluable judgment and forward thinking have been instrumental in developing policies and procedures that add value to certification," said David Thomson, OACETT’s Chief Executive Officer. "I know she’ll do an excellent job working with staff, volunteers and as part of the Senior Management Team."
Barbara takes over this position from Sam DiGiandomenico who, effective January 2, 2015, is leaving OACETT to become Executive Director of Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC), where he has served as a board member for the last three years. In this new role, he will apply his considerable expertise toward promoting the new accreditation model and contributing to the development and maintenance of new technical standards for the country. "During his 14-year tenure with OACETT Sam has shown national leadership on important issues, earning him great respect," said Thomson. "He has elevated OACETT as a progressive, recognized regulatory body, particularly with government; OACETT is much better off as the result of his efforts." While Sam will be leaving his role as Director of IETO and Registrar, he will remain nearby, as the TAC office will be located within OACETT.
