St. Clair College, the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and Industrial Drive Services today announced the creation of a $23,500 endowment to fund an annual financial award for engineering technology students enrolled at St. Clair College. The new fund is made possible through a leadership gift from OACETT’s Carole and George Fletcher Foundation, generously matched by Industrial Drive Service, and a contribution from the College.

Waseem Habash, College Associate VP Academics, made the announcement at the College main lobby this morning before guests who included faculty members and representatives from OACETT’s Essex Chapter.

St. Clair College President Dr. John Strasser commented, "This fund is a significant way to highlight the value of education in engineering technology for the future. We are delighted that our program at St. Clair College has been recognized as a place to invest with such a generous gift and from such an important partnership. We are grateful for the confidence that it represents in the kind of innovative training that we offer throughout the college."

The Industrial Drive Services/OACETT Engineering Technology Fund will provide a $1,000 bursary each year in perpetuity to a student studying in an OACETT recognized engineering technology or applied science program. Students enrolled in their first, second or third year will be able to apply for this financial support.

“We are thrilled that Industrial Drive Services and St. Clair College have decided to partner with OACETT on this important initiative”, remarked David Tsang, A.Sc.T., Chair of the Board of Trustees, Carole and George Fletcher Foundation.
