In a world rapidly transformed by artificial intelligence, staying ahead means not just keeping pace with technological advancements but actively shaping their direction. The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) invites you to be at the forefront of this transformation on April 9 at our 2024 AI Summit, themed "The Rise of AI and its Impact on the Engineering Technology Profession." We have two options to choose from:

1) Do you work with AI? - then complete the form below to request an invitation to our free in-person summit. We want to hear from you if you work with AI in your daily tasks, such as leveraging machine learning and optimizing techniques.

Agenda

The summit's agenda is packed from morning till late afternoon, with the flexibility to attend some or all of the sessions.

• Morning Sessions, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm: Kick off with a keynote address followed by panel discussions on critical AI themes.

  • Keynote Session: Future of Work and AI: Getting 2030 Ready, Andrew Au
    
    
    By 2030, half of the work we get paid to do today will be automated by technology, 10% of jobs will be in categories that don't exist today, and demand for technological skills will surge by 55%. Are you ready?
    
    
    Being "2030 ready" means more than just applying automation, robotics, and AI. It involves a shift in leadership and culture – a modern approach to skilling, a cognitive division of labour, and a complete business model evolution. Andrew Au, an authority on digital transformation, provides audiences with a glimpse into this future and the pathways needed to prepare for this new world of work.

    The panel session will explore the impact of AI on the engineering technology profession from the viewpoints of:
    • government
    • colleges
    • businesses
    • associations

• Afternoon Sessions, 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm:  Engage in a closed-door meeting with experts, offering your insights on AI's impact on our profession. Cap off the day with a networking reception complete with light refreshments.

    Our afternoon strategy session is more than a learning opportunity; it's your chance to influence outcomes, network with thought leaders, and position yourself as a pioneer in an AI-driven world. The insights and connections you'll gain here are invaluable – and any ideas and outcomes will be used to inform a report that OACETT will create for the government and other stakeholders as a sector-specific guidance document.

    Conclude the day by connecting with peers over light refreshments and fostering relationships that will carry you forward in your career.
