Tough Conversations Workshop

December 02, 2020 at 06:30 PM until December 02, 2020 at 08:00 PM

In this workshop, the theme will be centered around how to manage tough conversations. We will draw principles from the book Crucial Conversations, and applying a neuroscience-based approach to creating psychological safety in our professional relationships.

What we think we are saying, and what people choose to understand, can sometimes be quite different. This disconnection causes misunderstanding with our colleagues and clients, limit career advancement, and even suppress innovative and collaborative thinking in teams. There is a lot of anxiety and stress around saying the “right” things.

Participants will be applying key skills in small group breakout rooms in our “work”shop, which involves an engaging set of interactive activities, facilitated discussions in small Zoom breakout rooms (up to 3 or 4 people each), and a fun, safe environment to share different perspectives. Participants develop higher inner self-confidence, increased self-awareness of their own helpful / unhelpful patterns of communication, and leave with strategies to improve how they can foster higher trust as a result of initiating tough conversations at work.

When interactions get tough in high-stakes, high-consequence negotiations, how can we stay more grounded and composed, respond in an emotionally-intelligent manner, and co-create solutions that are fair, composed, and productive?

Most importantly, this workshop will be fun: people learn effectively when they are having fun!
