The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists

Saying goodbye to our CEO David Thomson

Dear Members,

This past week OACETT said goodbye to our CEO David Thomson. David served with the association for the past 15 years.

David, along with elected members of Council, led strategic initiatives to help raise OACETT’s profile with both members, employers, colleges, government and other stakeholders and partners across our 15 disciplines. Some of the many achievements that can be attributed to David’s leadership include: introducing continuing professional development (CPD), working with Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) to finalize the LET designation, and growing the Fletcher Foundation endowment fund.

While there have been many changes over the years, David led a dedicated team of staff each of whom have and will continue to play an integral role in the everyday running of the Association. In the interim, Barbara Chappell has been appointed to the position of acting CEO, and will continue in her role as OACETT’s registrar and director of the Institute of Engineering Technology of Ontario (IETO), until the recruitment of a new CEO has been finalized.

We would like to thank David for his contributions and leadership during his tenure as CEO, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Kim Pickett, C.E.T., LET
